Plumwood Inc.

Objectives

The Objectives of the Plumwood Inc. Association are:

1.    To promote public engagements that further the feminist, ecological, and decolonising ethics and practices inspired by the life, work and intellectual legacy of the late Dr Valerie Plumwood, and contribute to eco-cultural change.

2.    To host and cultivate eco-cultural and creative practices and events on the premises (house and garden area) of Dr Plumwood’s former home on Plumwood Mountain, in a manner that preserves its environmental integrity.

3.    To support the flourishing of the environmental humanities, spearheaded by Dr Plumwood’s work, in Australia and internationally, including managing Dr Plumwood’s archives, intellectual property and copyright.

4.    To maintain the Plumwood Mountain premises (house and garden area) and preserve the ‘outstanding cultural significance’ of the NSW Heritage Listed house on Plumwood Mountain, as a ‘living museum’ of Dr Plumwood’s life and work.

5.    To ensure that the premises, located on the traditional Lands of the Walbunja people of the Yuin Nation, and permanently leased from the Batemans Bay Local Aboriginal Lands Council (BBLALC) by Plumwood Inc., are used for the purposes stated above.

6.    To maintain a collaborative and reciprocal relationship with members of the BBLALC, and with the Batemans Bay and other local Indigenous communities.

7.    To ensure that all of Plumwood Inc.’s cultural activities, practices and events support and/or compliment the Indigenous Land knowledges and cultural practices of the BBLALC and Walbunja Rangers.

8.    To manage and draw upon the residuary funds from Dr Plumwood’s Estate, gifted to the Association, to realise the objectives above.

9.    To raise funds through grants, donations and special events to further the objectives of the Association listed above.
